About Burgh Heath
Burgh Heath is a residential area of the Borough of Reigate & Banstead in Surrey, located around the A217, between Banstead and Tadworth. The A217 means it comprises what are effectively two parts: a larger part with shops on the main road and surrounding Canons Lane to the east and the other to the west close to the pretty ponds, facing Burgh Heath. To distinguish it from the more built up section, it is known to its residents as ‘The Green’. The residential area is bordered to the south by the Burgh Heath itself, one of four parts of Banstead Commons, which comes under the jurisdiction of the Banstead Commons Conservators. It is bordered east and north by farmland leading to Banstead Woods and there are some lovely walks – many of which lead to family-orientated pubs that serve food as well as a good selection of beers. For BMX enthusiasts, there is the Burgh Heath BMX trail which runs through a small wood.
Burgh Heath Amenities
Burgh Heath has a large Asda supermarket which is open 24 hours six days a week, as well as on Sundays. There is a parade of shops along the A217, housing small independent retailers and several small restaurants. A luxury sports car garage and Toyota’s UK headquarters are located in the north of the area at Great Burgh and in the area of Tadworth, several well established estate agents can be found.
There are several good schools in the locality and the area’s close proximity to the A217 means there is also easy access to Reigate, with its popular Grammar School and sixth form college. The road also affords good links to the M25 and Heathrow Airport in one direction and the M23, South Coast and Gatwick Airport in the other.
